Syllabus and Course Description

ENG 1001 is designed to prepare incoming freshmen for the rigors of college writing. This course is part of the University of Florida's AIM program (Assisting students, Improving skills, Maximizing potential), which to seeks increase the retention of students from populations with low graduation rates.

Consequently, this class focuses on both teaching students how to be effective writers in a variety of rhetorical situations and genres as well as introducing students to the explicit and implicit rules and structures of the academic and social aspects of college culture.
