Comparison and Contrast Write a 6-7 page examination of three views (from three different essays/stories) on language that we have covered in class (or will cover before peer review of this essay) using comparison and contrast. This means that you will be looking both for commonalities and/or differences in both of the writings that you choose. I will be looking for clear and accurate juxtaposition of the three views in a concise and well organized essay. Make sure that you make the comparison's common basis, its point, and the type of organization clear throughout your essay. Your essay may only compare or only contrast or do both -- that decision is entirely in your hands. You must use quotations from your chosen texts to support your arguments, and you must also therefore have a works cited page (see the Writer's Reference MLA guide for what this page should look like). All of your entries will be "selections in a anthology" type of entries, with the Mercury Reader being the anthology. Rough Draft due (peer review -- don't forget to print out the peer review questions): Friday, July 22nd Final Draft due: Monday, July 25th If you want to meet with to discuss your paper, please do so as soon as possible because I will not meet with anyone the day before the paper is due. |
