Materials Needed for Quilt Square
Cloth -- You can use any pattern or type of cloth that you want, but plain cottons (they look like bedsheets) are the easiest to work with. Don't feel like you have to go out and buy your material (feel free to use parts of old clothes etc.). You will need enough material to make up a 12x12 inch square and forget to allow yourself room for your stitches. If you decide to purchase your material, I recommend getting several 1/8 square yards so you have several fabrics to put together. Also, don't forget to material for the back of the square (usually one piece of fabric). Most places that sell fabrics will have what are known as "fat quarters" already cut and would be great to make your top out of.
Batting -- Since batting only comes in large amounts, I will purchase a role and then split the cost amongst the class.
Accessories -- You will need to have needle, thread, scissors, and some sort of measuring tool (ruler or tape measure). There is such thing as quilting thread, but any regular thread will work just as well for our purposes.
